Learning and teaching at ETI

Bild

On the student page of the Institute of Electrical Engineering you will find the different lectures and exercises as well as exams for the current semester. The ETI's courses teach students the optimal design of electrical drives in an interdisciplinary context as well as power electronics and its requirements regarding power density, functionality and energy efficiency. In addition, the ETI is also the contact point for the recognition of internships of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and provides individual advice for the specialization areas.

Research Internship (ETIT-Projekt)

In advanced studies, students can either take a practice-oriented professional internship or a research-oriented ETIT project (internship). For this purpose, the ETI offers a rapid prototyping system, which was developed on the basis of a Zynq-SoC. ETIT projects are offered at the Electrotechnical Institute to support and further develop this system. Further information can be found here.

Lectures and Exercises

The Elektrotechnische Institut offers a wide variarity of lectures and exercises for KIT students. Fundamentals of electrical engineering as well as advanced lectures about power electronics and electrical machines are part of the curriculum. For a detailed list and descriptions of the lectures see the German homepage.

Student Research Projects

Students have the opportunity to work on their bachelor or master thesis in the institute. The following key aspects can be part of the work:

  • power electronics, e. g. in the field of regenerative power generation
  • digital signal processing and control engineering with DSPs or microcontrollers
  • switching power supply
  • electrical machines
  • electrical energy storage systems

If you are interested, please contact the scientific staff. A list of open bachelor and master theses is given on the German homepage. After consultation with the scientific staff individual designed study works are also possible.

Study Models

Students of the bachelor or master degree programm "Electrical and Information Engineering" can choose between several study models to focus on their field of interest. The Elektrotechnische Institut offers, in cooperation with other institutes, the following study models:

  • Electric Mobility
  • Electrical drives and power electronics
  • Renewable energies
  • Electric energy systems and high voltage technologies

Please see the German homepage for details.
