Projektbeschreibung

Goal/results: The design of electrical machines with high power densities (>10 kW/kg) relies strongly on high performing cooling systems. Different approaches like in-slot cooling channels, in-lamination cooling ducts, spray cooling or end shields with integrated power electronics cooling are well suited for increasing the performance of the system as well as decreasing the systems dimensions.

Contents and methods: The goal of this project is to devise a machine with high power density for mobile application based on the axial flux yokeless stator armature (YASA) topology. The work should focus on:

(1)          Planning and implementing a mechanical structure and cooling system in order to meet the structural and cooling demands of the electric machine.

(2)          Optimizing the machine and support systems using Multiphysics simulations in order to achieve low weight for a given power requirement.

(3)          Design and manufacture of a prototype machine for testing.

(4)          Experimental validation of test results.
